Finding a place for us to get married was quite stressful. Every place we looked at was so expensive and there was no way we were going to pay that kind of money. We decided to check with Bethel, my parent's church to see if they had an opening and what we would need to do to secure the date.
There were a few issues that included us not dating for as long as Bethel would have liked and we needed to go through premarital counseling. Bethel would like couples to be together for at least a year before their wedding. The total time Jeremy and I would have been together would have only been 9 months. However, we did have a liazon with Dick Erickson. He was an elder at the church that I had known for many years and we decided to have him marry us. He came to our rescue and talked to some of the other elders and helped us be able to get through the red tape. He offered to counsel us four times over the course of our first year of marriage.
I was excited to use the large sanctuary for the ceremony and then be able to walk down the hall to the fellowship hall for the reception. Using the fellowship hall also gave us the opportunity to use the kitchen and the coffee cafe.
Securing the venue took a lot of stress off my shoulders and started getting me excited for the big day!
